The outcome was a striking visual masterpiece, purposefully crafted for social media virality while serving as a timeless digital monument to the team’s triumph.

Beyond strengthening the club’s identity, this innovative approach delivered powerful sponsorship value by seamlessly unifying artistic expression, cutting-edge technology and sports storytelling into a single compelling narrative.

Technique

Stop motion is an animation technique that creates the illusion of movement by capturing sequential still photographs of an object or scene, with slight adjustments made between each frame. When played back at high speed, these images produce fluid motion perception.

Key Characteristics:

    1. Frame-by-Frame Process

      • Requires hundreds or thousands of photos, with manual subject repositioning between each shot.

      • Example: Moving a clay figure 1mm per frame to simulate walking when all images are combined.

    2. Common Types

      • Object animation (toys, models).

      • Claymation (plasticine or clay).

      • Pixilation (live actors photographed as stop-motion puppets).

    3. Difference from Light Painting

      • Stop motion captures physical objects in motion, while light painting records light trails through long exposure.

      • When combined (as in Man. City’s video), hybrid effects emerge: objects that appear to “draw” their own movement with light.
